Tuesday, 26th June: Cleethorpes hosts one of 63 events nationwide to celebrate the Olympic Torch passing through on its way to London 2012.
The free celebration will be held in the evening at Meridian Park. It will include local people and be organised by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. More details will follow.
The torch will travel through Cleethorpes on the Tuesday, taking the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway before ending up at Meridian Park. The following morning, it will be abseiled down Grimsby's iconic Dock Tower.
The 70-day Olympic Torch Relay will start at Land’s End, Cornwall, on the morning of May 19th, 2012. It will travel an estimated 8,000 miles around the UK giving thousands of communities and individuals their moment to shine as the Olympic Flame comes to a place near them.
